Accounting Supervisor Jobs description

The information that accounting personnel record is very confidential, sensitive, and crucial to the operations of a business. There is no room for error in the recording or maintenance of accounting data. Accordingly, the efficiency of an accounting supervisor in managing the accounting operations of the accounting team is critical. An accounting supervisor may be responsible for overall monthly closing responsibilities; monthly inventory reporting; supervising the accounting team; reviewing monthly financials, trial balance, and general ledger schedules; reviewing and approving journal entries and bank reconciliations; keeping track of and following up on accounts receivables and accounts payables; and providing support and recommendations to the management when required. Accounting supervisor positions may also be identified with titles such as accounting manager, team leader, manager of accounting operations, accounting director, payroll accounting manager, tax manager, audit manager, financial accounting manager, and senior accounting manager.

A bachelor's degree in accounting or its equivalent is essential for all accounting positions. A master's degree in accounting, along with certification as a CCA, CGA, or CPA, may also be advantageous. Generally, a supervisory role requires at least 2-5 years of experience.
