Tax Accounting Jobs description

A tax accountant is a professional who assists a taxpayer in preparing a tax return. For businesses, the given accounting system must also provide data for use in the completion of the company's tax returns; this function is the concern of the tax accountant. The job of a tax accountant involves the preparation of tax returns, accounting work, research on a variety of tax issues for preparation and planning, ensuring timely payment of all taxes, and resolving issues that arise as a result of operations and various jurisdictions. Other significant areas of responsibility include tax compliance, income tax accounting, and project-oriented tasks and research. Tax accounting requires a basic knowledge of federal and state tax laws.

Tax accountant job openings require candidates with bachelor's degrees in accounting, business, or finance, or equivalent years of work experience in tax accounting and tax return compliance, along with good technical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and various programs for preparing tax returns is also required.
