Public Accounting Jobs description
Public accountants, also commonly referred to as external auditors, perform a broad range of accounting, auditing, tax return filing, and consulting activities for their clients, which may include corporations, governments, nonprofit organizations, or individuals. The job of a public accountant typically entails the preparation of reports such as quarterly, half-yearly, and annual earnings statements. A public accountant also sees to it that the necessary records are kept for tax purposes and that a firm's tax returns are filled out properly.Giving companies independent, unbiased advice concerning their finances is a primary concern of the public accountant. Public accountants may also be hired to prepare independent annual reports that are presented to the stockholders of corporations. These reports show the state of a company's finances to the people who own stock in the company.
A public accounting job requires a degree in accounting. Many accounting firms prefer to hire people with a master's degree in accounting. Public accountants must be familiar with the tax laws concerning their clients' professions or businesses. They must also be able to communicate well with their clients.
