POSITION SUMMARYGrant Thornton’s responsive,
partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and
grow with insightful, practical tax advice.
In addition to tax professionals in our offices across the United
States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge
and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax
services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services,
international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services,
tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and
mergers & acquisition tax services.Grant Thornton's C-SFTS practice, part of Strategic Federal Tax Services (SFTS), uses specialized, national and regional staff to provide expert services to our clients. This position will require the successful candidate to be a technical resource in the inventory area capable of marketing and selling inventory type projects and provide project management and QA oversight on major inventory projects. The successful candidate will support the region in addition to being utilized as a national resource as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget. Serve as business adviser to client.
Conduct inventory projects including technical tax research, planning the project and insuring that our QA standards are met on each project.
Formulate and deliver innovative tax planning and tax savings strategies.
Identify and capitalize on opportunities to sell inventory tax services and identify opportunities to cross-sell various tax opportunities outside of inventory services.
Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and to make sure deadlines are met.
Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed.
Maintain a good working relationship with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and work with client management and staff at all levels to perform tax services.
Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve tax-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
Assist partners and senior management on proposals and business development calls.
Gain comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge on engagements.
Participate in recruiting efforts as needed.
Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
Other duties as assigned.','!*!Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or JD/active law license required.Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.6-8 years of public accounting experience with an emphasis in the inventory/accounting methods area

Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills and strong attention to detail.
Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology.
Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
