RMS Inventory & Cost Accountant

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Position reports to the Global RMS Inventory & Cost Manager and assists with global standard costing, analysis of inventory variances, as well as ensures the integrity of global inventory accounting, and assists the FP&A with monthly

forecasting of inventory related costing/variances.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring all inventory is properly costed and valued accurately

Assist with the annual standard costing process including summarizing the impact of the revaluation of inventory for finance management

Assist with the daily/on-going costing needs for our custom manufacturing diet facility

Assist with the preparation and compilation of annual operating plans

Support Operations on daily activities, projects and problem resolution, ensuring situations are handled appropriately from both a financial and business perspective

Partner with FP&A on various business issues and analyses, providing information as needed that may affect or impact business decisions

Prepare necessary journal entries monthly, quarterly and at year-end as needed in accordance with the Corporate calendar

Analyze inventory reports and prepare monthly inventory reconciliations

Assist with the facilitation and the planning of the annual physical inventory processes as well as monitoring the processing of the monthly cycle count activity. Conduct investigation and analyses, on transactions recorded to ensure inventory is appropriately updated

Prepare monthly variance analyses & reports, both manufacturing as well as procurement

Partner with Shared Service teams on problem resolution and remediation, as needed

Gain an Operational knowledge of activity and collaborate with teams to ensure all inventory transactions are recorded accurately and timely

Ensures that systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and applicable regulations

Ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required


Minimum of 2 years of costing experience in a manufacturing or similar production environment

Good organizational skills required, including the ability to effectively analyze and summarize a large volume of data

Good communication skills, both verbally and written.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft office products required and experience with J.D. Edwards EnterpriseOne and Hyperion a plus

International Accounting experience a plus

CPA certification a plus

Life Science Industry experience a plus
