Assistant Accounting Manager

Overall Job Function:
Responsible for oversight of general ledger system
Job responsibilities including but not limited to:
Complete monthly close of books; preparing general ledger entries including accruals and prepaid expenses in accordance with IFRS.
Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, general ledger accounts, and financial reports.
Preform monthly variance analysis on P&L and balance sheet accounts and field questions within the organization.
Perform monthly allocations between brands, sales channels, and cost centers.
Record and analyze intercompany expenses.
Review fixed assets and depreciation expense recorded.
Analyze inventory, cost of goods, and related schedules.
Prepares various US Census filings and other external reports.
Identify and implement ideas to streamline the accounting process.
Create and recommend operational accounting policies and procedures.
Support business changes and impact on financial systems including information from peripheral systems.
Work cross-functionally with other groups within the organization identifying issues, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
Primary contact with auditors in preparing schedules and documentation supporting financials.
Prepares financial statements and year-end financial reporting package for consolidation.
Delegates, reviews, and follows up on work of Staff, Junior, and Clerical Accountant(s).
Assist in special projects as needed.
Minimum Candidate Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business required, working towards a professional certification or Masters preferred.
At least 4 years of work experience in a corporate accounting department or public accounting firm.
Ability to independently work in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
Possesses strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach and develop a team.
Team player who is optimistic and value-driven.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Experience working with financial system programs, SAP strongly preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, advanced in Microsoft Excel.
