The reporting analyst will be responsible for creating and building reports that support our client’s needs and drive key business decisions. In this role you will need to work with multiple data sources to develop functional and financial reporting. Data extraction, analysis, and transformation are key job responsibilities. Reporting analysts receive requests from all members of the management team and must have strong task prioritization skills in addition to critical thinking skills.
Reporting analysts work in a business environment and coordinate with a variety of departments regarding data collection procedures, key stakeholders, requirements gathering, and will need to communicate progress to project team. The analyst will perform extensive data validation against multiple sources prior to sending output to users. Although the reports created are used for client presentations, reporting analysts aren't typically required to have direct interaction with customers. Conduct data validation and testing to ensure accurate results. Gather requirements from client side users and document when necessary. Automate reporting and data validation to minimize manual processes.
Apply critical thinking and advanced Microsoft Excel and Access knowledge to provide analytical support
Create data visualizations that enable the reader to quickly reach actionable conclusions
Work with internal and external customers to deliver on-target, value-added solutions and results to complex and strategic challenges
Identify areas for process improvement, both strategic and tactical
Work independently in detail oriented environment
Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting/Finance, Math, Information Systems), AA acceptable with relevant experience
2-3 years’ work experience in accounting/analytically-focused role
Analytical thinker with an ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
Advanced Excel skills (including expert knowledge in using lookup tables, pivot tables, if statements, etc.) and/or MS Access and SQL skills
Experience with data integration from multiple sources
Commitment to internal and external customer service
Must be a team player
Desired but not required skills
Familiarity with relational databases
Experience with BI reporting tools such as Business Objects, SQL Server, or Cognos
Knowledge/exposure to MicroStrategy
Experience with a coding/scripting language such as VBA.
