This position is responsible for ensuring accurate complete and timely transactional processing with consistent application of global accounting procedures in line with policy. Responsibilities include USGAAP and IFRS inventory accounting; Goods-in transit (GIT) Accruals, and Interdivision Balancing. Also, responsible for volume validation database, maintaining Issues Log, Global Consolidated Inventory Flux and problem-solving inventory accounting issues as they arise.
This position is responsible to support and back-up the Global Process Owner in various initiatives to improve and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Inventory Accounting processes. Also, responsible for providing technical support and be able to coach and guide the less experienced members of the Inventory Accounting team.
This position should be able to act as subject matter expert (SME) on various topics working collaboratively across interfacing functions representing Inventory Accounting. This position requires strong Inventory Accounting technical knowledge and problem-solving skills; able to troubleshoot issues with other departments (e.g. Supply Chain) and be a strong resource for the Segment Process Owner/Leaders. Should be able to coach and guide the less experienced members of the Inventory Accounting team.
Roles & Responsibilities
Provide technical support and guidance to the Inventory Accounting team in delivering efficient and effective processes on behalf of business units.
Member of cross functional teams representing their region and process area as SME to ensure appropriate implementation of agreed improvement solutions.
Provide back up and support to Segment Process Owner/Leaders
in their management of a high performing transactional processing team.
Flexible attitude towards availability and support of broader initiatives across Global Process Solutions (GPS) as applicable and agreed with Management team
Continue to seek and provide suggestions to Segment Process Owner/Leaders for process improvement initiatives.
Support and implement process improvement initiatives agreed with Global Process Owner.
Provide back-up to the Segment Process Owner/Leaders as the escalation point for regional process issues. Encourage initiative and self-directed performance. Escalate unresolved issues to the Segment Process Owner.
Understand expectations and take appropriate actions to continuously meet expectations of customers and governance functions in provision of accounting services.
Actively seek opportunities to exceed expectations of customers and governance functions.
Deliver to the expectations of the Segment Process Owner in managing the respective processes ensuring tasks, activities and sub-processes are standardized, aligned across the team. Provide back-up for other regional teams where required.
Provide decision support and analysis to Segment Process Owner/Leaders to ensure information/analysis provided is properly evaluated and supported.
Bring suggestions forward to the Segment Process Owner for appropriate process performance metrics and indicators.
Provide support to the Segment Process Owner for tracking implemented performance indicators and metrics and explaining trends in performance.
Perform SOX controls in accordance with internal control guidelines and maintain evidence of control for area of responsibility.
Responsible to continuously seek opportunity to improve controls.
Implement and maintain desk top procedures for area of responsibility.
Minimum of 6 years of finance and/or accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required.
SAP experience is preferred.
