US Taxation Specialist

Reporting to the Manager, US Taxation, the US Taxation Specialist will be responsible for the oversite of the day-to day tax activities for U.S. entities as it relates to tax accounting and reporting, forecasting and planning and some tax compliance. The successful candidate will work with our businesses, the tax management team and our outside advisors to carry out his or her responsibilities. As a member of our Corporate Tax leadership team, the incumbent will bring initiative, embrace technology, be a change champion, a strategic leader and a team player. They will have proven experience leading a successful tax team and support the development of their team members.
*Provide oversight for the appropriate recording of tax provisions for GAAP and FERC regulatory reporting in accordance with ASC 740; *Provide tax information to appropriate groups for the preparation of internal budgets and forecasts; *Provide tax consulting services related to regulatory income tax issues, including rate proceedings and quarterly reporting; *Accountability for managing the income tax accounting and reporting functions and related day to day tax activities; *Frontline liaison with tax auditors and interact with appropriate government agencies on tax matters; *Oversee and coordinate the preparation of some federal and state corporate and partnership tax returns and estimated tax payments; *Review tax legislation and accounting guidance updates, research tax issues, communicate findings and provide recommendations to business units and senior management regarding tax issues and proposals. *Participate in the decision process to determine strategies to optimize tax positions for new and existing projects *Identify opportunities and develop new processes to obtain efficiencies in the tax preparation process and aid in strategic tax planning *Perform an active role in implementing new technology, initiation of continuous improvement opportunities and the ability to manage change. *Provide leadership, training and development to staff

*Excellent organizational skills that allow the candidate to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities; *Results-oriented with strong identification and initiation of continuous improvement opportunities: *Proven ability to recognize the need for, and drive successful change in the organization; *Accountable to meet commitments while consistently delivering results within required timelines; *Ability to think strategically, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; *Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word; *Knowledge of OneSource tax software and Power Tax fixed asset software preferred; *Savvy with technology, including the proficient use of tax research software tools; *Ability to work well under pressure, having strong analytical and decision-making skills; *Excellent oral and written communication skills; *Ability to motivate and develop staff.
*Requires a University degree preferrably a bachelor's degree in accounting, with 10 or more years of related experience; *CPA designation;
*Progressive and successful experience in leading a team of tax professionals; *Accounting for Income Tax experience required; *Experience with FERC regulatory accounting and reporting preferred.
