King & Spalding, a leading global law firm, seeks a Financial Analyst II to join our Finance Department in Atlanta. The department offers the opportunity for a Financial Analyst II to join an innovative and collaborative team focused on supporting accounting practices. The Financial Analyst II will work closely with the Finance team and will report to the Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.The firm offers a generous total compensation package with bonuses and raises awarded in recognition of individual merit-based performance. Eligible employees may participate in King & Spalding’s comprehensive benefit program including health and wellness plan, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts and a health savings account, a 401(k) plan, profit sharing plan, on-site gym access, discount programs, an onsite childcare center and a substantial Paid Time Off (PTO) program. Candidates will have the following responsibilities:Prepare recurring and special management reports/graphs such as firm accrual revenue against budget and practice group scorecardsCreate and automate queries across multiple tables/databases to generate dataManipulate data in Excel spreadsheets, SQL, or other databases to summarize and analyze the financial and operational information neededGenerate ad hoc financial models and data analysisMonitor key performance indicators including utilization, realization, rates, net income, and Profits per Partner on a regular basis, identifying and investigating anomaliesVariance analysis, including explanations and continuous monitoring of actuals to prior year-to-date and budgetEvaluate recurring data requests for possible automation or other improvementsWork directly with IT to assess data integrity across applicationsWork directly with other functional areas as needed to execute projectsAssist the firm’s Senior Management to report, monitor, interpret, and project financial and operational resultsSynthesize metrics and data into practical insights and communicate those insights with confidence The Financial Analyst II supports the Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis with planning, forecasting, and budgeting, and is responsible for the reporting, modeling, and analysis of financial and operational data.  The Financial Analyst II may assist with identifying, analyzing, and interpreting key performance measures; dis-aggregating metrics into their underlying components; engaging in “root cause” analysis to assess changes in metrics and underlying causes; assessing performance against history and benchmarks; and assessing the impact of various performance improvement efforts and measuring results.Successful candidates have strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines effectively; understanding scope, deliverables, and timelines.  Candidates must be detail-oriented, ensure accuracy, and have the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Candidates should have well-developed Microsoft Office skills, including advance Excel proficiency—notably advanced formulas, pivot tables, and macros.  SQL, Power BI and/or Iridium experience preferred.  Successful candidates demonstrate the ability to solve problems and communicate with all levels of personnel.  Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics and 3 – 5 years of experience in a law firm or other professional services environment.We are proud of our remarkably cohesive culture, which now encompasses more than 2,000 lawyers and business professionals in 20 offices worldwide.
