The College of Medicine, Department of Accounting and Finance, is searching for an Accountant 2. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Job Summary: Provide recommendations and expert advice to various departments within the College of Medicine on accounting process-related topics.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
*Maintain routine account journals and prepare basic financial statements *Monitor and interpret financial data in the development of cost analysis and reports *Analyze, establish, and maintain accounting records *Perform internal auditing of financial records *Prepare financial/statistical analysis reports *Prepare and monitor budgets and financial activity *Audit labor history *Responsible for post award sponsored administration *Perform related duties based on departmental need
Incumbent will be expected to perform the majority of the accounting job functions in one or more assigned area(s) with minimal to moderate supervision. Work assignments will entail moderate to high complexity and require:
*A wide range of problem solving *Development of practical and thorough solutions *Proactive efforts rather than reactive solutions *Exploration and adaptation of changing financial systems *Identification, evaluation ad resolution of routine and non-routine problems *Integration, coordination and interpretation of fiscal data
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with two (2) years' experience; - OR- Associate's degree and four (4) years' experience; -OR- six (6) years' experience; degree must be in accounting or related field with related accounting experience.
Ideal Qualifications: Excellent communication and customer service skills; working knowledge of SAP Financials and Business Warehouse reporting; ability to work successfully in a team environment; post-award sponsored administration experience
