Forensic Accounting Jobs

A forensic accounting professional examines complex finance and accounting-related information mostly involving illegal or unethical accounting manipulations and similar corporate misconduct. A forensic accountant work includes complex shareholder rights litigation, and investigations into financial reporting and accounting manipulations. A forensic accounting professional utilizes knowledge of finance, accounting, and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to proceed with the investigations. Responsibilities include, providing litigation attorneys with written reports and spreadsheets exhibiting accounting improprieties; assisting litigation attorneys in legal proceedings including depositions, meetings with experts, motion arguments and trial; and providing expert guidance and opinion of finance manipulations to the litigation attorneys.
A forensic accounting position generally requires a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration. A CPA, CIA, CFE certification, expert knowledge in supporting commercial litigation, corporate fraud proceedings, auditing, and business misconduct matters, is an advantage.
