Federal Accounting Jobs
The federal government has a variety of agencies operating in different sectors to serve the citizens of America. All these agencies must also keep records of their financial transactions, and those federal employees who engage in accounting for the government hold what can be called federal accounting jobs. The various positions for which the federal government generally recruits include the following: accountant, accounting technician, accounts receivable technician, administrative assistant, auditor, budget analyst, financial resource manager, internal revenue agent, lead accounting technician, systems accountant, supervisory auditor, tax fraud investigative assistant, tax fraud investigative officer, internal revenue evaluator, and assistant chief financial officer for accounting, among others.
For all accounting positions, it is advisable to have a bachelor's degree in accounting or its equivalent. Certification as a CPA, CGA, or CCA may also be advantageous for some vacancies. Familiarity with GAAP or International Financial Reporting Standards is essential.
